October 2021 | Low HIV Viral Loads Lower Community Spread and Improve Individual Health

By Siempre Unidos | Monthly Update, Uncategorized | 0 comment | 11 October, 2021 | 0

Siempre Unidos closely tracks the health of each of our 484 HIV-positive patients. According to the most recent laboratory tests, only 6% have high viral loads (indicates high levels of infectiousness). Of these, two-thirds are patients who were diagnosed this year and are still acclimating to their diagnoses and treatment regimens.

These data tell us we are doing something right. Globally, countries aim for 90% of diagnosed patients to have undetectable viral loads. We are meeting that metric and out-performing the United States.

How do we do this? Our staff make home visits and phone calls to support patient medication adherence. Our therapists meet with patients and their families (as seen to right). We provide food support when needed. Our wrap-around services, coupled with deep respect and care, help provide the individual and community better health outcomes and lessen the likelihood of new HIV cases.
