March 2020 | A Trust Exercise: Learning about Living with Blindness

A retired school teacher, “Tommy” has lived with HIV and blindness for over 10 years. He is one of the first members of the Siempre Unidos community to show up to volunteer and participate in our fundraisers and support groups.

Our expanded services for HIV+ people who are 50 years and older now include activities designed by and for this patient population. In the photo below, Tommy leads 8 other people who are blindfolded with the help of Karen, the Siguatepeque clinic psychologist.

“Tommy teaches us about empathy, trust and the importance of companionship,” as Pascual Torres, the Honduran Executive Director writes.
